 "Could be better" 2009-01-26

It should be explained that it won't work as hot swap unless your MB supports it. But if your MB supports it, it will, most probably, have e-Sata ports.

 "Worked for me" 2007-10-08
By Mick the Ginge (Portland Oregon, USA)
Worked very well with my external SATA (eSATA) drive. It the drive is not picked up after you have plugged it in you may need to go into the computers bios and enable the SATA controller. In my desktop I have 4 SATA connectors, two are controlled by the default SATA controller the other two are optional. After enabling the second controller the external eSATA based drive worked like a charm. I see speeds of over 50MBps between the internal SATA drace and external SATA drive

PCI Bracket that Converts Mother Board Internal SATA 2Ports to External SATA II (eSATA)

Newer motherboards and computer systems may support SATA devices internally, but now there are more external devices (like hard drives) that use the SATA interface as well. How do you connect them to your computer? Add this eSATA to SATA rear panel host adapter! It adapts your internal SATA connectors for use with external eSATA devices.
This simple bracket mounts in place with one screw (mounting screw not included), and the two cables connect to your motherboard's SATA connectors.
Please note, eSATA and SATA use two different port and plug shapes. The internal cables of this adapter use SATA plugs; the external ports of this adapter use eSATA ports.
eSATA is the fast, new standard in drive interface technology!

"Great for adding esata to PC" 2009-08-21
By Jay Jeszenka (Torrance, CA USA)
Great product for taking unused internal sata ports inside PC and allowing use of external esata drives. Esata is way faster than USB. You can also boot from an esata drive using this device. I have 2 estata drives connected to multi-boot my system (vista 64 & windows7 - I turn off the unused drive to save power). Make sure you measure the length of the cable needed from your mother board to the back of PC. 6" cable may be too short. Other models like this come with longer cables. Mine was 18" so it could reach the back of the case. Highly recommended for external esata drive use.

 "A great idea!" 2008-02-11
By D. W. Moore (Portland, OR USA)
A few months ago I had no idea what ESATA was. Then I bought an external drive case that had both USB2 and ESATA. It came with a single Motherboard SATA connector-to-ESATA socket. When I bought another like unit, I wanted to have 2 ESATA connectors on one bracket. That's what this does nicely.

Besides that it doesn't work with external WD drives, but cables are too short for my tower case.

"Won't work on Western Digital external drives" 2007-08-14
By DRen72
I bought this hoping it would allow me to use my Western Digital My Book SE on my Asus A8N-SLI, but it does not work. The Western Digital requires a true eSATA connection from the motherboard. What this does is convert SATA to eSATA and that won't cut it for the WD drive.

 "Good Product" 2010-03-19
By Mike B (Las Vegas)
It works great with my Madcatz PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition. Comes in pretty weak packaging and was nearly crushed somewhere along the way. But it made it here in working order and works great!

I would buy again!

"NOT FOR EXTERNAL HARDDRIVE ON WIN2K" 2009-03-20
By Dr. Devesh (Portland, OR)
I have an older PC and I wanted USB 2.0 for quicker access to TB EXTERNAL HARDDRIVE. The card works with other peripheral (such as Webcam, etc), but locks up and/or causes read errors with HD - which frankly stinks, since that was my primary reason for the purchase. FYI: I also had to do a Windows Update to hotfix WIN2K OS for USB 2.0. If you are not a bit technically savvy, stay away folks.
