The UltraAV DisplayPort to VGA (HD-15) cable adapter enables the connection of your DisplayPort supported computer to a VGA supported monitor or other VGA display. It supports VGA resolutions of up to 1920x1200 (WUXGA), 60Hz and is simple to setup and easy to use. Connect the DisplayPort end of the connector to your computer and plug your existing VGA cable from the monitor into the VGA adapter. Setup is complete. The circuitry built into the DisplayPort to VGA cable adapter seamlessly converts the DisplayPort’s video signal into a crystal clear VGA video signal. The DisplayPort to VGA cable adapter requires no external power. It is designed to use the power provided through the DisplayPort connection and features a power-saving standby mode. The power-saving standby mode is initiated through the DisplayPort source or based on the monitor’s (sink) status, which is automatically detected by the adapter. Standby mode reduces power consumption when the adapter is not in use and is ideal for energy conservation.

I just bought 3x Asus monitor for my Eyefinity setup and needed a cheap alternative to the active Display Port to DVI adapter that costs $110 at the time of this review. I've read on some forum posts that a passive DP to VGA adapter would work with Eyefinity. That's why I ended up buying this dongle. I was skeptical of course, but risking around $30 is a lot better than $110. I plugged in the adapter, and voila! Eyefinity works like a charm. I've tried the Apple DP to VGA adapter before, and experienced a weird ripple effect on the monitor that was connected by the DP adapter. Once I switched over to this Accell adapter, the ripple effect went away and I am now a very happy gamer. The image quality is crisp and you can't tell the different between the DVI connected monitors with the DP connected monitor. The only con is the fact that you can't put your computer in standby mode and recover from it because the DP connected monitor will somehow lose signal. If this is an issue for you, I would suggest going for the active DP to DVI adapter instead. If you want to save $70, go with this adapter.
