"Not a good choice for 64-bit Windows 7, unreliable" 2010-01-29
By Christopher J. Shaker (Bend, OR United States)
I own two of these boards. First off, Windows 7 64-bit installs on the hardware, assuming you have less than 4 GB of RAM.

Windows 7 has problems with sleep on this board with quad processor phenoms. Windows 7 has problems with the USB hardware in the Nvidia chipset on this board if 4 GB or more of RAM is installed. There are hotfixes for the Windows 7 problem with the USB on the NVidia chipset. The USB problems are known to possibly cause a blue screen of death in the USB driver, which I got when I attempted to run one of these boards with 6 GB of ECC RAM installed.

Problems when you move data over USB

Problems when computer wakes up from a sleep:

One of my two boards has suddenly gone unstable. It was running Windows 7 stably for a couple of months with those hot fixes. It now typically hangs during disk access to drive C.

The hardware passes Memtest86+ 4.00, several passes, with no errors. I ran the Seagate disk diagnostics on the original hard drive, and it tested good.

I replaced replaced the power supply (was 750 watt PC Power & Cooling, now has 1,000 watt Corsair), replaced the hard disk (new WD Caviar Black drive, formatted and tested on another computer). Replaced the case with a Coolermaster HAF 922. Replaced the memory. Was using two sets of Kingston ECC RAM, KVR800D2E6K2/2G. Tried running with only half the memory. Tried running with 2GB of Corsair XMS2 RAM. Still hangs. Hung once in the BIOS setup. Tried setting memory timing and voltage manually with each memory. No help.

Only thing left is to swap out the motherboard and the CPU.

I have found ASUS support to be worthless in dealing with this USB problem with the Nvidia chipset. Their only reply is to assume that I have bad or inappropriate memory. The Kingston RAM was what Kingston recommended for this board, if you want ECC RAM.

 "This Motherboard Failed" 2009-01-27
By K. Brown (Kingston, Jamaica)
I bought this mainboard and send to me a few months ago but only started using it last weekend. Less than 3 days later and it has failed. Hours and hours of frustration and my dream of building my dream gaming rig came crashing down and being an overseas customer support is non existent.

It is a good board but that is useless if it does work as it is supposed to!

 "Good value" 2008-10-15
By Robert Richards (Homosassa, Florida)
This motherboard represents a good value for the dollar. It is being used for a home computer for casual to moderate use. By not pushing the board to its' limits, it is expected to be stable, and perform well for quite a few years The components used in conjunction with it are:- 535 watt power supply, 320 GB HDD, one basic video card, one DVD drive, one ethernet graphics card, and 2 gigabytes RAM; all within an all aluminum case. With two weeks of use under its' belt, the issues have only been minor.

 "HORRIBLE MOTHERBOARD !!!!" 2008-08-31
By Carlo Valachi 58 (West (by God) Virginia)
I purchased this mobo on november 30 2007 and received it on December 3 2007. The board preformed semi-flawless until May 11 2008 on that day this Asus product died and after nearly 4 months I'm still getting a run around from Asus customer support. I am now on my "FIFTH RMA'ed MOTHERBOARD" and that s*&^%%$#$ doesn't work either. I have replaced EVERYTHING that connects to this board and still it fails. Do yourself a favor and do a google search on this product and find some forums on this product and you will read the same story as mine.I found out too late what type of junk ASUS sells. Run from this board and any other by this company !!!!
