 "Gigabyte is one the best brand.. but this mobo came DOA" 2010-02-26
By Anotonio Soares (Venezuela)
I bougth this mobo with this:

Good layout, pretty blue color...

PHII 940 3.0GHZ

SAPPHIRE 4870 1GB

PSU OCZ 600W (DOA) Yeah that I call bad luck!!! two items DOA...

DDR2 CORSAIR 800MHZ

I mounted all and then never turn on, I never saw the BIOS neither processor nor VGA turn on..

I did all test so I contacted with Amazon and they resolve this problem very very quickly that's really really good for Amazon Customer Service

Saludos and sorry for my bad english...

 "works great but had to upgrade BIOS to make it with AM3 945" 2009-11-21

works great but had to upgrade BIOS to make it with AM3 945.

It was a bit of hassle to come to the conclusion that it was the motherboard

fault and specifically the BIOS.

 "Incredible Motherboard. Very Easy to Install + Great Feature Set" 2009-05-02
By F. Severino
============================== Pros ==============================

1. Very easy installation even for a first time builder like myself. Just really glad it works 100%. Recognized all my hardware **note**

2. Plenty of USB2.0 + SATA Connectors

3. LOTS of options in the BIOS. Easy to navigate through it too.

4. GREAT location for all the connectors (at least with the case I built with)

5. IGP works really good on both Vista 64bit and Windows 7 32bit. I don't game on my PC so can't comment on it's gaming capabilities. Runs AERO interface with ease.

Gets a 4.6 rating for AERO and 5.4 for gaming graphics on Windows 7. You HAVE to install the driver included on the CD or download the one from Gigabyte's website. Right now I'm running the drivers from the CD and EVERYTHING works flawlessly.

6. Has 2 SATA ports facing "out" and 4 facing towards the front. This worked really well in my case.

7. Looks really nice against the black inside of my Antec 902 case. Yellow SATA cables too :D

============================== Cons ==============================

1. **note** Only thing that didn't recognize correctly was my RAM. G.Skill Pi Black DDR2 800 CAS4 timings were wrong. It recognized them as 5-5-5-15. It was very easy though, with NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE, to set it to 4-4-4-12 @ 1.9v

2. I'm really just nitpicking but Gigabyte included 9 motherboard studs but only 8 screws instead of 9 that I would've liked. What's with that? :P

Not a big deal though, just installed it with 8 screws and it is firmly held in place. 3 at top, 3 at bottom and 2 (one on each side) in the middle row.

3. Reading the reviews, people seem to be having some problems with Linux and the IGP. Haven't tried it yet. Will report back if/when I do.

============================== Other Thoughts ==============================

At first I was going to go with an ASUS one but experienced builders on the Eggxpert forums seem to really like Gigabyte right now. Now I see why. REALLY well constructed board. The northbridge looks really cool imo.

I HIGHLY recommend this board. As I stated before, this is my first every build and this board made it really easy. BUY IT!

MY SYSTEM:

- ANTEC Nine Hundred Two Case

- Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H

- AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7Ghz OC to 2.9 with stock cooler.

- G.Skill 2x2GB Pi Black DDR2 800 CAS4 RAM

- Western Digital Black Caviar 640GB SATA HDD

- Corsair 450W PSU

- Samsung 223Q SATA DVD+/-RW

By the way, all of these components are working flawlessly together. I highly recommend all these parts.
