Ordered this combo to replace my old amd athalonX2 on a ECS motherboard. Installing was a breeze, booted up from a windows vista cd with no problems and was able to restore my files from my old backup IDE hard drive. Once everything was up and running, I decided to add another 2GB of RAM to the brand new 2x1GB RAM I had started up the system with. Once I installed the additional memory, all hell broke loose. Basically the system would not POST. the fans powered up but nothing else. Tried removing memory, clearing CMOS etc. etc. and all kinds of stuff for two hours, to no avail. Finally called it quits, repacked the whole thing up and sent it back to tigerdirect. They were excellent, paid for return shipping and sent out replacement the next day. As I had hoped, on hooking up the replacment cpu and mobo with just the 2GB of the new RAM, the system booted up again. I did not have to reinstall the OS (as I had hoped). It has been 24 hours and everything is great. So, I assume the additional RAM messed things up. Reading the small print, the manual says, use RAM of same latency. I presume that was the issue as I was mixing and matching RAM (though all them were DDR2 obviously). I guess ASUS boards are finicky. Overall, I am pleased. For general home computing the system is quick. CPU fan is noticeably quieter than the old ahtalon X2 fan.
