"Seems to be a nice board." 2009-09-19
By N. Huguley
This seems to be a really nice board, and I am glad I choose it. I am retired from the computer industry and although I do have computer hardware skills, they are very dated. Since I have retired, I have not really kept up with technologies and what is out there anymore. I mean, PIII was high tech for me, lol.. With a little guidance from my son, whom took the torch from me some years ago, I decided on this board. I was a little worried since it have been quite some time since I bought parts, and built my own system. I really had to start over. This board was much easier to set up and configure then I remember them being. The install and set up directions were VERY easy to follow and understand. Everything was clearly marked and easy to figure out. The best feature I liked was the dual PCIe slots. I am only using one, but when I feel I need more video power, I can simply pick up a second card and gang them up. Most the cabling is easy to get to, but the front panel LEDS, power and reset controls are still a pain in the butt like I remember. I would have thought somebody came up with easier connectors to deal with than those little things. I am kinda on the fence about the IDE header, and SATA headers tho. They point forward, and fortunately my case made it not bad to get to those, but I would bet to guess that depending on the case used, those could be a bear, or near impossible to plug in with the board installed. I really like the digital readout on the board. It really makes it nice to watch for problems during POST. If the computer locks up and doesn't boot, you can power it on, and watch the digital display on the board for HEX code. What ever code it stops on during boot up, is the problem, and you will know where to look for issues. Nice, because in the old days, ya had to have a dummy plugs, and all sorts of crap to carry around to plug into it to get that code.

Anyway.. so far, so good, and I am glad I choose this board.
