My roommate got this board on a recommendation by me after some searching on various reviews. And this thing lives up to its reputation: It does what it's supposed to and is as solid as a rock. It's been on near 24/7 for about a month so far and GTG.



Those 3 blue blurs on the bottom of the mobo are dual USB connections, for a total of six. (For a total of a possible 12 including the back USBs.) Everything else you can pretty well see, but for ref: x1 PCIe x16 Vid Card Slot, x2 PCIe x1 Slots, x3 PCI Slots. Giga LAN, 8 Chan Audio, x6 SATA & x1 IDE connectors, x4 full speed up to 1200mhz dual-chan RAM. (There's a "Qualified Vendor List" but I put some 1066 that wasn't listed and it was fine.) Up to 1600mhz on the bus. Accepts any current Dual or Quad core processor. If you'd like a closer physical look there's always google images or the ASUS site itself.



Like most boards now, there's so much stuff on it there's an art to putting in together right (PSU hookups, then the heatsink most likely since it'll probably be pretty big. RAM, then Vid Card, etc.), but that just is what it is and not a fault of the mobo.



It's great. If I don't get another Shuttle (from a previous review), I'll probably get this.

I was so pleased with this MB that I'm getting another one, it took the Zalman CNPS9300 CPU Cooler with out a hitch despite it's size. I put everything on the MB that I could before placing it inside the tower. Loads of USB on back panel. I had pulled the latest drivers down from at the ASUS site , copied them to a CD-RW and installed them with no problems. I'm using this setup as my Media server connected directly to a L-Link DIR-655 router and running WIN XP X64, I added Kaspersky Internet Security 7 for Firewall and Anit-Virus, probably didn't need to as the router is a hardware firewall but you can never be too safe now days. It is super Energy efficient and thats also what sold me on this MB, I'm not an over clocker or a gamer, more into video and music manipulation instead.

 "Great mobo, software not up to Asus standard" 2009-10-31

Asus mobo exceptional as has been my experience with their products. Manual is easy to follow, board is very well put together, feature set is even more than I expected... the only area I found a problem was the software / supplied DVD. The DVD does not support Windows 7 (64 bit) so I had to download everything from the Asus site... and in this area Asus does not deliver their typical high standards. Their support website lacks the fundamentals their manuals follow. - It is not easy to follow; there are duplicate and triplicate copies of the same utilities... beta and full release code blended together.



Aside from the website issue, I couldn't be happier with the mobo. Asus does a great job of identifying everything on the board. They engineer boards that are real show pieces... open case users will appreciate this board and where connections are placed (easy to hide cabling).



A note for the mobo replacement type. If you are not looking for advanced feature set, no intention of "tweaking" and never see yourself over-clocking your system, then this board is overkill. But it sure is great fun to explore!
