"Nice little computer case, as long as you understand its limitations" 2010-04-25
By Michal P. Todorovic (Long Beach, CA USA)
I really like this computer case. The finish is very pretty, and fits in well with my stereo components (I bought this to create a PC to connect to my TV). As long as you stay within the stated power requirements, everything will be fine. I especially love the CPU cooling system; the bracket is much easier to install and use than almost any other CPU cooler I've ever bought, and it clearly will work better. It is quiet (I watch streamed tv with it, and am never aware of any noise coming from it) and has lots of ports. I plugged in my own video card, so I can't comment on the integrated video; I assume it sucks because all integrated video sucks. ;-)

The main cons of this type of unit relate directly to its size. If you hope to have a super gaming rig, look elsewhere. The power supply is not beefy enough to put in a powerful video card, nor is there physical room for one. If you want a lot of drives, look elsewhere as you can fit two 3.5 inch drives and a 5.25 inch drive.

The biggest annoyance for me was the really, really bright front power light. It drove me nuts when I was trying to watch TV streamed from the net. I ended up cutting the cable to it as I couldn't easily figure out how to do it less destructively.

When putting together a system using the case, make sure you stay within the power constraints for the CPU and any video care you might add. Size of any device is an issue, so make sure they will fit before you buy them.

I'm really happy with this little system and would recommend it.

 "My favorite Shuttle" 2010-03-03
By David C. Veeneman (Lincolnshire, IL USA)
An update to the Classic Shuttle. I like this model much better than the newer, fancier models--no doors to open or close, eveything within easy reach. The surroundView technology allows driving one monitor from the internal video board, and a second monitor from a compatible video card in the video slot. It works well, and the drivers are all Windows standards, so installation and upgrade to Windows 7 was no problem.

"Excellent Compact Case for AMD AM2(+)/AM3 CPU Line" 2010-01-02
By Paul R. Saxman
This is a great barebones system; I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a quite, compact system. Not quite for performance enthusiasts, however.

Pros:

Really cheap for what you get!

Excellent upgrade path from AM2 System (CPU & DDR2 memory re-usable)

Very well thought out case layout and cooling characteristics

Lots of USB and audio connectors

Really really compact and quiet (but not silent)

Quite decent power (runs Nvidia 8800 GT, 95 Watt CPU, and SB Audigy 2 EX, no prob)

Cons:

PCIe port on outside with about 15mm clearance between board and side of case. Therefore, no fancy video card coolers or 2 slot cards

DDR3 memory not supported

105 Watt CPU TPD max, so the best CPU I think you can get right now is Phenom II X4 95W 3.0GHz AM3 (not 125W version!)

The integrated video and audio work, but my old Nvidia 8800 GT clearly outperforms the embedded ATI video.

 "Not Linux Friendly" 2009-10-07
By D. Doxey (San Diego, CA)
The BIOS does not support ISOLINUX and will not boot on a Linux install disk.

The workaround is to boot on a USB drive using a SBM (Smart Boot Manager) image which allows you to hand off initialization procedures to the CDROM after initial startup.

There is a VGA and a DVI port. These are not separate devices. If you are doing dual monitors you'll need to install a separate video interface card.

On the up side:

low noise

compact package

modern appearance.

"Thank you for showing me your PC Doctor Service Center" 2009-12-17
By Tommy Rupp
Thank you for showing me your PC Doctor Service Center.

With these new tools I am able to provide my customers with professional Reports.

Being able to diagnose, test and document just about any problem in a finite matter of time.

I prefer to use my digital camera to document the tests & results.

Providing my customers with color in their reports.

This has increased my revenue. I now offer a complete diagnostic stand alone charge of $40.

Once the problems are carefully documented and a professional estimate of repair is provided,People love it.

It is unheard of around here to do business this way.

Most of the computer repair stores only provide a verbal diagnostic and estimate of repair.

As a result my business continues to grow by word of mouth and the flashy color reports..

Sincerely

Tommy Rupp A+ Certified Computer Technician

 "Simply The Best" 2009-04-08
By Robert Cole
I am a relatively new user of PC Doctor, but I can tell you this is one of the best investments I have made for my PC repair business. Since I offer diagnosis as a free service, I have to be able to put my finger on the problem as quickly as possible. Before I discovered PC Doctor I had a box of disjointed tools and FOBs, each only preforming one bit of information and the testing differed from tool to tool.

PC Doctor has simplified my life by putting all of the tools under one umbrella. In my opinion it is the Gold Standard of hardware diagnostics; a must-have tool for every PC repair professional.

 "Great Engineering Tool" 2009-03-17
By Stuart Sherlock (Oregon, USA)
I just upgraded from Service Center 6 to Service Center 7. I used the Center 6 for about a year to help diagnose client computers that saved me time narrowing down the FRU (Failed Replaceable Unit). Clients were able to get their computers back quickly and they were happy with the repair costs. I have been a test engineer for many years and valued automation tools that can perform fast and repeated tests with positive results. About 4 years ago, I acquired Micro2000 and it was very difficult to use and took a long time to test. When I found PC-Doctor, what a difference. Results were quick and repeatable. Their support was excellent and very friendly. So, when I upgraded to Service Center 7 very recently, I used it on a computer that identified bad memory. Used the same tool on a laptop that reported a failing hard drive. This is a very good investment for IT and computer repair services. It did for my business!! Thanks again.
