"Best Bang For The Buck" 2010-03-03

Amazon is really awesome! I purchased this board for a new build. My original board was DOA, but Amazon sent me another Overnight Priority. This thing is a monster for overclocking and Gigabyte honors a three year warranty (Build date not purchase date). I've been using their boards for all of my builds. Awesome price with dependability from this company. No wonder they are the leaders of motherboard manufacturing. This board is also very desirable for building the almighty "Hackintosh".

Excellent board. Three months so far, not a hiccup or lock-up or BSOD. Decent instruction book. BIOS easy to navigate. Once again Gigabyte produced a good, solid board. Definitely recommend this board.

"Good bang for the Buck" 2010-02-06

The directions that came with this board were fairly straight forward, I like the 775 Processer socket because of all the processers I can put in it. I stuck a Core Dou 3 GHz 1333 MHz 6 MB processor in it for $167.99 amd 8GBs of Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400CS RAM for about $186.00 This Mother board was 137.29. A Diamond Radon HD 4650 Video card (from Comp USA)for $89.99. A Western Digital 1TB SATA hd for $84.99 and $68.35 for a Star Tech 500 watt power supply. Total $737.88 for everything purchased from Amazon except the video card. I put all this into my old modified Gateway 700s tower (with extra venting and fans) with existing DVD RW and a floppy. All the old and new stuff went together without a hitch and it is working just fine. This is one fast 700s now and even with the extra cooling it is a lot quieter. This motherboard allowed me to do this project and I'm happy with the results. even though Windows 7 is being a pain not recognizing my old printer.

 "Best Motherboard Ever!" 2010-01-27

It may be out of date now, but just read on any forums that deals with pc's and you will see this is one of the most commonly used motherboards for people who custom-build their computers.

Great design, cool colors and even comes with an e-sata port!

 "Great Motherboard" 2010-01-21

Very good motherboard for a very good price. I was upgrading the RAID-5 array in my media server (from 4 x 500GB to 4 x 1.5TB), but it turns out my old Asus P5D motherboard's ICH7R RAID controller could only support a 2TB volume size, so I needed a motherboard with a newer RAID chipset. This motherboard includes an ICH10R controller (now called the Series 4 by Intel). The LGA 775 socket allowed me to transfer my old Pentium D 820 to this motherboard, but when a Q6600 came available from another system, I dropped that in instead.

I have 2 x 1024 DIMM's and 2 x 2048 DIMM's for a total of 6GB RAM. Note that due to some stability issues, Corsair (the memory manufacturer) had me increase the voltage to the memory and the memory controller. They said that was because they design the memory for 2-stick installation, and the 4 sticks draw more power. The increase solved my stability issues.

Because I now had 6GB of RAM (I only had 2GB before), I needed to go to a 64-bit O/S. Windows 7 x64 installed perfectly with no additional drivers needed. That was sweet.

Because of the stability issues, I haven't overclocked yet. To tell the truth, it's a media and data server, and I really don't want any data corruption, so even if I do overclock this puppy, I won't be aggressive.

The only issue I have with the motherboard is the substandard video controller. If you get this motherboard, I suggest you also get a nice $75 video card with 1GB of RAM - that'll let you run Aero, and your performance will be better.
